Ingredients:

• 250 g – Raw Rice
• 50 g- Split Red Gram
• Half a cup – Coconut
• 2 to 3 – Green chillies
• Half tsp -Mustard seeds
• Half tsp -Split black gram
• Curry leaves
• 2 -Red chillies
• 2 or 3 -Onions (finely chopped)
• Coconut Oil (optional)

Method:

  1. Sprinkle little water on the rice and keep it aside for few minutes.
  2. When it has dried, grind it in a mixer coarsely.
  3. Soak split red gram in water for a few minutes and grind it with green chillies into paste.
  4. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, split black gram and red chillies.
  5. Add onions when it has been fried completely and water twice to the quantity of rice i.e. 1:2 ratio.
  6. Add scraped coconut, ground paste, salt and curry leaves.
  7. When water starts boiling add pounded rice and close the lid.
  8. After five minutes open the lid and stir again.
  9. After rice is cooked, add coconut oil.
