Ingredients:
• 1 cup – tur dal or masoor dal
• 2 – big tomatoes, chopped
• 3 or 4 pods – garlic, smashed
• 2 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tsp – Cumins powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 2 – red chillies, broken into bits
• A few Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – oil
• salt to taste
Method:
- Wash the dal and cook along with the tomatoes, turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and 3 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
- When the dal is cooked, mash well, add the salt, and a little more water, if required.
- In another vessel heat oil and the smashed garlic, mustard, red chillies and curry leaves.
- When the mustard splutters pour in the cooked dal and mix well.
- Serve with rice.
