Ingredients:
• cooked Rice – 4 cup
• sesame or vegetable oil – 4 tbsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
• Fenugreek – 1/2 tsp
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• white sesame seeds – 2 tsp
• black gram (Urad) Dal – 2 tsp
• dry Red Chillies – 3, broken into pieces
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• asafetida – 1/4 tsp
• Tamarind pulp – 2 tsp
• grated Coconut – 1 cup
• salt to taste
Method:
- Heat oil in a Kadai.
- Add sesame seeds.
- When they splutter, add fenugreek and cumin.
- After few seconds, add sesame seeds and black gram Dal.
- When these turn golden brown, add chillies, turmeric powder and asafetida.
- Add tamarind pulp and 1/2 cup of water.
- Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add rice and salt.
- Mix well and keep covered on low heat for 5 minutes.
- Remove from fire and mix in the grated coconut.
