Ingredients:

• For sponge:
• 4 – eggs
• 4 tbsp – Maida
• 6 tbsp – Sugar
• For chocolate sauce:
• 2 – Egg yolks
• 6 tbsp – Sugar
• 1/2 cup – water
• 6/8 tbsp – cocoa powder
• 1/2 slab – chocolate
• 2tbsp – Butter
• A few Walnuts

Method:

  1. To make sponge: Whisk eggs and sugar until thick.
  2. Lightly stir in the flour.
  3. Grease a cake tin.
  4. Pour the mixture and bake at 200 C for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. To make chocolate sauce:
  6. Put water and sugar in a saucepan and dissolve sugar gradually on slow heat. Then boil syrup to 1/2 thread consistency.
  7. Beat egg yolks till creamy.
  8. Cool the syrup and pour over the beaten egg yolks.
  9. Now cook in double boiler till it is thick. Add the cocoa powder and creamed butter.
  10. Remove from double boiler and whisk till cool.
  11. Cut cake in 3 layers.
  12. Layer with sauce in between.
  13. Garnish with walnuts and chocolate curls. Chill.
