
Ingredients:
• For sponge:
• 4 – eggs
• 4 tbsp – Maida
• 6 tbsp – Sugar
• For chocolate sauce:
• 2 – Egg yolks
• 6 tbsp – Sugar
• 1/2 cup – water
• 6/8 tbsp – cocoa powder
• 1/2 slab – chocolate
• 2tbsp – Butter
• A few Walnuts
Method:
- To make sponge: Whisk eggs and sugar until thick.
- Lightly stir in the flour.
- Grease a cake tin.
- Pour the mixture and bake at 200 C for 15 to 20 minutes.
- To make chocolate sauce:
- Put water and sugar in a saucepan and dissolve sugar gradually on slow heat. Then boil syrup to 1/2 thread consistency.
- Beat egg yolks till creamy.
- Cool the syrup and pour over the beaten egg yolks.
- Now cook in double boiler till it is thick. Add the cocoa powder and creamed butter.
- Remove from double boiler and whisk till cool.
- Cut cake in 3 layers.
- Layer with sauce in between.
- Garnish with walnuts and chocolate curls. Chill.
