
Ingredients:
• Spring onions – 1 bunch
• Tomatoes, finely chopped – 1/2 cup
• Moong dhal – 1 cup
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
• Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
• Salt to taste
• Oil as required
Method:
- Soak the moong dal for an hour.
- Cut the spring onions into small round pieces.
- While cutting make sure you keep the bottom part i.e. the thick onion part separate from the leafy part.
- Heat the tawa with a little oil and put the cumin seeds.
- Add the onions alone and fry them for 5 mins.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and fry them.
- Add the chopped leaves of the spring onions and fry them for 3 mins.
- Add the salt and chilli powder too.
- Add the soaked moong dal to the tawa. Let it cook along with the spring onions until tender.
- Add the garam masala powder and simmer.
- Close the tava with a lid for 5 mins.
- Remove from heat.
- This dal is very simple to make and is good for health too.
- It can served with phulkas, chapattis and rice.
