Ingredients:
• Spring onions – 1 bunch
• Onion – 1
• Tomato – 1
• Toor Dal – 1/2 cup
• Kulambu poddi (Sambar Powder) – 1/2 tsp
• Salt – 1 tsp
• Sugar – 1 pinch
• Kadugu (mustard) – 1/2 tsp
• Urud dal – 1/2 tsp
• Red Chilli – 1
Method:
- Boil tuvar dal with 2 cups of water in a cooker (till you hear two whistles).
- After it lets out steam, open the cooker and add chopped spring onions, chopped onion, sliced tomato, salt, sugar, kulambu podi. Close lid and boil till you hear 1 more whistle.
- Open the cooker after it lets out steam. Now pour 3 tsps oil in a kadai and add kadugu, urud dal and red chilli.
- Add this to the spring onion kootu and mix.
- If it is too thick, add some water.
- Eat hot, mixed with rice.
