
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – sprouted green gram
• 1 cup – grated Coconut
• 1/2 cup – onion, chopped
• ball of Tamarind
• 1 tsp – Coriander seeds
• 1 pieces cinnamon, 3 cm
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Asafoetida powder
• salt to taste
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 4 Cloves
Method:
- Add 2 cups of water to the gram and simmer till soft.
- Soak tamarind in 1/2 cup of water and extract the juice.
- Add the juice and salt to the gram. Simmer for 2-3 mins.
- Heat 1 and a half tbsp of oil, fry onion till golden brown and reserve.
- Roast red chillies, coriander, cloves and cinnamon in remaining oil.
- Add chilli powder and asafoetida and stir for few seconds.
- Grind all these with coconut and reserved onion to a smooth paste.
- Add the paste to the gram.
- Add water if needed to get a thin gravy. Simmer for 3-4 mins.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
