
Ingredients:
• For the filling:
• 1 cup – roasted gram (pottu kadalai)
• 1 cup – Sugar
• 20 – cashews
• 1 tsp – Cardamom powder
• 1 tbsp – Coconut (scraped)
• 1 tsp – Ghee
• For the poli:
• 1 cup – all – purpose flour (maida)
• Salt – a pinch
• Oil for deep frying.
Method:
- For the Filling:
- Powder roasted gram, cardamom and sugar.
- Heat ghee in a pan and roast the finely cut cashews and scraped coconut. Add to this the powdered mixture to make the filling.
- For the Poli:
- Knead maida and salt with enough water in a bowl to make a soft dough and keep aside for an hour.
- Now make small balls and roll each ball using a roller and make very thin rounds about 6 inches in diameter and leave aside for 10 mins.
- Now deep fry in hot oil and remove them when half done.
- Place them on a plate and immediately spread 1 tbsp of filling and roll it tight and keep it on a plate with seem side facing down.
- Store in air tight containers.
