Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup – tur dal
• 1 – tomato, large
• For seasoning:
• 1 tsp – oil (preferably ghee)
• 1/2tsp – Mustard Seeds or Rai
• 1 tsp – Jeera or Cumin seeds
• pinch – Hing
• 1 stalk – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – ginger-garlic paste
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric
• 1 tsp – Sugar
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Pressure cook dal and chopped tomato for 4 whistles.
  2. For seasoning, heat ghee in a kadai. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing.
  3. Once they start spluttering, add curry leaves and ginger garlic paste.
  4. Fry it for a min until you can smell the aroma of the mixed ingredients.
  5. Pour the tomato dal mixture into this.
  6. Add turmeric, sugar and salt to it.
  7. Let the dal simmer on a low flame for around 10 mins.
  8. Serve, garnished with coriander, with rice or pulao.
