
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup – tur dal
• 1 – tomato, large
• For seasoning:
• 1 tsp – oil (preferably ghee)
• 1/2tsp – Mustard Seeds or Rai
• 1 tsp – Jeera or Cumin seeds
• pinch – Hing
• 1 stalk – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – ginger-garlic paste
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric
• 1 tsp – Sugar
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Pressure cook dal and chopped tomato for 4 whistles.
- For seasoning, heat ghee in a kadai. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing.
- Once they start spluttering, add curry leaves and ginger garlic paste.
- Fry it for a min until you can smell the aroma of the mixed ingredients.
- Pour the tomato dal mixture into this.
- Add turmeric, sugar and salt to it.
- Let the dal simmer on a low flame for around 10 mins.
- Serve, garnished with coriander, with rice or pulao.
