Ingredients:
• 2 cups – beets, grated
• Tamarind – size of a betel nut
• Salt, according to taste
• Seasoning
• 4 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1-2 – Red Chillies
• Pinch of Asafoetida (hing) powder
Method:
- Take little oil in a kadai and fry the dal till golden brown in colour. In the end, add the chillies and hing powder.
- Keep it aside.
- Steam cook the beets in little oil till the raw smell goes and it becomes tender.
- First grind the seasonings with salt and tamarind to crumble it.
- Then add the cooked beets and grind it further till it mixes well.
- Do not add water.
- Make sure that it doesn’t become pasty.
