Ingredients:

• Toor dal- 1 cup
• Red Chillies – 3
• Salt to taste
• Jeera – 1 tsp
• Urad Dal – 1/2 tsp
• A few Curry leaves
• Oil – 2 tbsps
• Garlic pods – 4

Method:

  1. Dry roast toor dal in a kadai till golden brown.
  2. Heat oil in a pan to make the tempering.
  3. Add red chillies, urad dal and jeera to the pan. Fry till golden brown.
  4. Add curry leaves and garlic pods. Give it a stir for a few seconds.
  5. Grind roasted tuvar dal with little water, grated coconut and the tempering.
  6. Serve with dosas or idlis.
