Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup – Urad Dal
• 1 cup – Rice flour
• 1 – Green chilli
• 2 tbsp – oil
• Curry leaves – a few
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• Asafoetida – a pinch
• 1 tbsp – grated Coconut
Method:
- Soak the urad dal in water for 30 mins.
- Drain, add green chilli and salt and grind the urad dal in a mixer once or twice
- Add the ground urad dal mixture and cook it in idly plate in a pressure cooker for 5 mins
- Break the urad dal mixture
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, add asafoetida, grated coconut and urad dal mixture and mix it well and keep aside
- Make equal size urad dal mixture balls.
- Take a pan and add 1/2 cup water, 1 tsp oil and little salt and when the water starts to boil, add the rice flour and mix it well and remove from flame and keep it aside covered with plate
- Take the rice flour mixture after 5-10 mins and sprinkle some warm water and also some oil and mix it well like a chapatti dough
- After smearing the hands with oil shape a ball of dough into cups and place a ball of urad dal pooranam
- Steam cook the urad dal poorna kozhukattai in pressure cooker by placing it in a idli plate for 5 mins.
- Serve.
