
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup – Butter or margarine
• 1 cup – Castor Sugar
• 1/2 tsp – Vanilla
• 1 – Egg
• 2 tsp – Cocoa
• 1/2 cup – Walnuts
• 1/2 cup – Sultanas
• 2 cups – Refined flour
• 1 tsp – Baking powder
• A pinch salt
• 1 cup – Milk
• 1 level tsp – Soda bicarbonate
Method:
- Sieve together flour, salt and baking powder.
- Cream butter/margarine with sugar and vanilla till light and fluffy.
- Add well beaten egg. Stir in cocoa blended with a little milk, chopped walnuts and sultanas.
- Fold in sifted flour alternately with remaining milk in which soda bicarbonate has been dissolved.
- Turn into greased tin.
- Bake at 190 degrees C for 45-50 mins.
- When cold, decorate with chocolate icing and sprinkle over the chopped walnuts.
- Raisins or dates can be used instead of sultanas.
