
Ingredients:
• 2 cups – broken wheat/wheat rava/dalia
• 1 cup – Toor Dal
• 2 cups – mixed vegetables
• 1 – Onion (chopped)
• 1 tsp – Tamarind paste
• 2 tbsp – bisi bele bath powder
• salt to taste
• oil as required
• a few Curry leaves
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1/4 tsp – Hing powder
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• Ghee as required
• For Flax seed BBB powder:
• 2 tsp – Channa dal
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1 tbsp – Flax seeds
• 2 – Cinnamon sticks (small pieces)
• 3 – Cloves
• 1/2 tsp – Fennel seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Poppy Seeds
• 1 – Cardamom
• 2 tbsp – Coriander seeds
• 5 – dry Red Chillies
• a few Curry leaves
• 1/4 tsp – Fenugreek seeds
• 3 tbsp – desiccated Coconut
Method:
- Heat a few drops of oil and fry all the ingredients listed for the flax seed BBB powder one by one until you can smell the aroma.
- Cool and grind as a fine powder. Keep aside.
- Pressure-cook the broken wheat and toor dal together with 6 cups of water (3 whistles) and keep aside.
- Heat oil and add the mustard seeds and hing powder.
- When the seeds splutter, add the chopped onions and fry until translucent.
- Add the vegetables and cool until tender.
- Add tamarind paste, turmeric powder, salt and curry leaves with enough water. Bring to boil and cook for few minutes.
- Add the bisi bele bath powder and cook a few more minutes.
- Add the cooked broken wheat and dal mixture. Combine well and cook for a few minutes. Top it with the BBB powder and ghee and serve with any spicy side dish.
