Ingredients:
• 1 cup – black whole Urad Dal
• salt to taste
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1/4 tsp – Hing powder
• 1 tsp – Ginger (chopped)
• 2 – Green chillies (chopped)
• 2 – dry Red Chillies
• 1/4 cup – grated Coconut
• oil as required
• a few Curry leaves
Method:
- Soak the black whole urad dal overnight and cook in a pressure cooker with salt and enough water (up to 3 whistles).
- Strain the water and keep the dal aside.
- Heat enough oil and fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies and curry leaves with hing.
- Add the chopped ginger pieces, green chillies and cook for a few seconds.
- Add the cooked whole urad dal, salt and grated coconut.
- Toss the ingredients gently for a few minutes and put off the flame.
- Serve warm.
