
Ingredients:
• Rice – one and a half cup, washed and drained
• Ghee or oil – 4 tbsp
• black gram Dal – 2 tsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
• Fenugreek – 1/2 tsp
• pea nuts – 2 tbsp
• Curry leaves few
• Onion – 1/2 cup, chopped finely
• chilli powder – 1 tsp
• coriander powder – 1 tsp
• Tomato puree – 1/4 cup
• water – 4 cups
• Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped
• salt to taste
Method:
- Heat ghee or oil.
- Add mustard seeds.
- When they splutter, add black gram dal, fenugreek and peanuts.
- When they turn brown, add curry leaves and onion.
- When the onion is light brown, add chilli and coriander powders.
- Add tomato puree, water, salt and rice.
- When the contents begin to boil, cover the pan and lower the heat.
- Let the rice simmer gently till all the water is absorbed and rice is cooked.
- Serve hot, garnished with coriander leaves.
