Ingredients:

• 50g – Channa dal
• 1 cup – water
• 1/4 cup – extra water
• 1 tbsp – Ghee
• 1 – Bay Leaf
• 2 – Cloves
• 1 – Cinnamon stick
• 2 – Cardamoms
• 2 – Green chillies
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – salt

Method:

  1. Wash and soak channa dal in 1 cup of water for 6 hours.
  2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add bay leaf, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon to it. Fry on low heat until it is fragrant.
  3. Add green chillies and turmeric powder to it. Saute for 1- 2 minutes till the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add soaked channa dal along with water and add extra 50 ml of water. Add salt to taste.
  5. Close the cooker. Bring it to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat to low and cook for 6 minutes.
  6. Remove cooker from heat. Allow it to cool. Serve channa dal with pulao.
