Ingredients:

• 1 cup (200 ml) – Urad Dal
• 4 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 2 tsp – coriander powder
• 1 tsp – salt (or to taste)
• 1/2 tsp + 2 pinches – Hing (asafetida)

Method:

  1. In an iron kadai, dry roast urad dal on low heat for about 15-20 minutes till light brown and fragrant. Switch off the heat.
  2. Mix it with red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and hing (asafoetida). Stir well for 2 minutes. Keep aside to cool.
  3. Transfer to mixer bowl and make a coarse (like rawa / sooji) powder.
  4. Mix with oil and serve with idli or dosa.
