Ingredients:

• 2 cups – dal
• 2 – Tomato | 1 cup – boiled peas
• 1 cup – finely sliced Onions
• 2 – dry Red Chillies
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – Ginger paste
• 1 tsp – chopped Coriander leaves
• A pinch of asafetida
• Salt to taste
• Oil to fry

Method:

  1. Boil the dal and keep it aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a kadai. Add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  3. Add the dry red chillies and onions.
  4. Saute the onions. Add ginger paste.
  5. Put the tomatoes in boiling water for 10 minutes.
  6. Peel off the skin and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.
  7. Add the tomatoes and boiled peas to the onions. Add the dal and one cup of water.
  8. To this, add the chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt. Cook for 5 to 10 mins.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
