Ingredients:

• 10 – dry red chillies.
• 1.5 – coconut.
• 4 tbsp – cooking oil.
• 2 tbsp – coriander.
• 4 flakes – garlic.
• 1 tsp – cumin seeds.
• 1/2 – onion.
• 4 – peppercorns.
• 1 – pomfret.
• 2 tsp – salt.
• 1 ball – tamarind.
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder.

Method:

  1. Clean, cut and wash the fish.
  2. Grind half of the coconut and extract the thick juice.
  3. Grind the remaining coconut in this thin juice with the other ingredients for grinding.
  4. In a handi, heat oil, fry sliced onions until brown, add the ground masala and fry.
  5. Stir continuously.
  6. Wash the left over masala in the grinder with four cups of water. Add fried masala and salt to it and boil.
  7. Add the fish pieces and cook for about 15 mins, or till the fish is cooked.
  8. Add the thick juice, taste and add salt if required.
  9. Simmer for 10 more mins.
