Ingredients:

• 2.5 cups – cleaned Coriander leaves
• 1.5 cups – Mint (pudina) leaves
• 6-8 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – salt
• A small piece of Tamarind or little Lemon juice to taste

Method:

  1. In a mixie jar, add the cleaned leaves, green chillies, salt and tamarind (if used).
  2. Add 1 tbsp water. Run mixer at whipper speed for 30 second, switch off.
  3. Push the chutney down the sides of jar and run mixer at speed 1 for 60 seconds, adding a little water if required for proper circulation.
  4. Add lemon juice to taste if required.
  5. A small quantity of fried channa dal or cashew nut can be added before grinding.
  6. If required, fry a little mustard, channa dal, curry patta leaves and asafoetida in ghee as topping on chutney.
  7. Serve with idli and dosas.
