Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Toor Dal (washed and soaked for 1 – 2 hours in hot water)
• 1 cup – Spinach leaves, chopped
• 1 – tomato, finely chopped
• 1 – onion, finely chopped
• 1/2 tsp – Ginger – Garlic paste
• 1 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 2 tbsp – Lime juice
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 1/2 tsp – Jeera
• a pinch of Hing (asafetida)
• 2 – green chillies, finely chopped
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Cook toor dal until is 3/4 cooked.
  2. Then add spinach leaves, onion, tomato, salt, turmeric powder, ginger – garlic paste and hing.
  3. Cook everything until done.
  4. In a frying pan, heat oil and add all the remaining ingredients (except lime juice) and pour it over the cooked dal.
  5. Next, add the lime juice and mix it well.
  6. Serve hot with chapattis or rice.
