Ingredients:

• 100g – dried shrimps
• 4 – dry Red Chillies
• 1″ piece – Turmeric
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• a little Tamarind
• salt to taste
• 1 – fresh coconut, scraped
• 3 tbsp – cooking oil
• 1 – medium-sized onion, sliced

Method:

  1. Broil the shrimps on a tava, stirring all the while.
  2. Put the shrimps on a board or flat plate and press with a piece of cloth.
  3. Remove the cloth and clean all the burnt parts.
  4. Grind the chillies, turmeric, cumin seeds, and tamarind into a paste.
  5. Add the shrimps and mix well.
  6. Add the scraped coconut and mix.
  7. Slightly grind the mixture in a mixer until the ingredients blend.
  8. Heat oil in a flat pan.
  9. Fry the sliced onion and add to the chutney.
  10. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  11. Add salt
