Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup – green gram dal
• 1 cup – Rice
• 2 tbsp – Ghee or clarified Butter
• 2 tsp – Jeera
• 1 tsp – Ginger finely chopped
• Freshly grated Coconut – a handful
• Green chillies – as per taste
• salt – as per taste
Method:
- Soak rice in water for five minutes. | Dry fry the dal on a heated tava till it gets a nice aroma and red colour. Keep it aside.
- Heat ghee in a pressure pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters add jeera, then chillies and ginger.
- Immediately add two cups of water. Simmer, add rice, coconut gratings, dry fried dal and salt. Simmer it. Close the lid and pressure cook.
- When the pan cols, open the lid and mix with a spoon.
- Enjoy with any hot pickle and yogurt while it is piping hot.
