Ingredients:

• Soya-1/2 cup
• Urad Dal-1/2 cup
• Red Chillies-4
• Mustard-2 tsp
• Asafoetida-1 tsp
• Curry leaves-2 springs
• Salt-to taste

Method:

  1. Soak soya and urad dal separately in water for 4 hours.
  2. Strain the water and add it in a blender with mustard, asafoetida,curry leaves and salt.
  3. Grind well till it forms a fine batter. Do not add much water, the batter must be thick like vada batter.
  4. In a clean sheet, make small balls and place the sheet in a terrace. Allow it to dry in the sun.
  5. Turn the karuvadams the next day and dry for 3 days in total.
  6. To use, fry them in hot oil and add it to any gravy or kootu.
