Ingredients:
• For filling:
• Channa dal – 1 cup
• Onions – 2
• Green chillies – 6
• Ginger – 1 inch
• Garlic – 3 pieces
• Cloves – 2
• Cinnamon – 1/2 inch
• Salt to taste
• Lemon juice – 1 spoon
• Sugar – 1 tsp
• Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
• Dill – 1/4 bunch
• Coriander – 1/4 bunch
• For dough:
• Rice flour – 2 cups
• A pinch of salt
Method:
- Soak dal for 2 hours. Wash thoroughly and strain.
- Grind chillies, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and garlic. Then add soaked dal to it and grind coarsely.
- Remove the mixture into a bowl and add the rest of the ingredients – chopped onion, coriander, dill, grated coconut, lemon juice, salt and sugar. Mix everything well and keep aside.
- For Dough:
- Heat water in a vessel and add a pinch of salt. When it boils, add rice flour and cook well.
- Mix well with a spoon so there are no lumps.
- Take a small ball of cooked flour, roll it into small puris, put some filling in the centre, fold over into a semi-circle and seal the edges (leave two ends slightly open).
- Steam for 25-30 minutes and serve hot with green chutney.
