Ingredients:
• 2 tbsps – long grain Rice
• 2 tbsps – Poppy Seeds (gasagase)
• 2 cups – Milk
• 1 cup – water
• 1 block – Jaggery (or 10-12 tbsps – brown sugar)
• 10 tbsps – Sugar
• 1/2 cup – desiccated Coconut or dry Coconut-kobbari
Method:
- Allow milk to boil in a pan at low heat.
- In another vessel, add jaggery (or brown sugar), sugar and 1 cup water. Boil at medium heat till it becomes thick.
- Take another pan, dry roast rice and poppy seeds.
- Grind the fried rice and poppy seeds with coconut into a smooth paste with very little water.
- Add this fine paste to the thick jaggery syrup and boil for about 10-12 mins.
- Add this to the boiling milk and boil for about 10 mins.
- Remove all coarse elements from this liquid by filtering in a drainer or colander.
- Serve hot or cold.
