
Ingredients:
• 200 gm – moth dal
• 2 tsp – garlic, chopped
• 2 tsp – ginger, grated
• 1 cup – onion, finely chopped
• 3 – tomatoes, chopped
• 2 tsp – green chilly, chopped
• 3 tbsp – clarified Butter
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• spices: 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp – red chili powder
• salt to taste
• 1 tsp – Garam Masala
• 1/4 cup – coriander leaves, chopped
Method:
- Wash and cook moth in 3 glasses of water with 1/2 tsp of salt for 4 whistles in a pressure cooker.
- Take 1/2 bowl of boiled dal, smash it and keep it aside.
- Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds and with the sound of crackling add grated ginger and garlic.
- Saute and wait till it becomes golden.
- Add chopped onions.
- Saute for 5 minutes till they are light golden and add all spices and salt, stir it.
- Now add chopped chillies and tomatoes.
- Stir and cook till oil comes out.
- Now add the dal kept aside.
- Stir continuously till ghee comes out from edges.
- Add this masala to boiled dal.
- Allow the dal to cook for 10 minutes so that the masala mixes properly and a flavour arises.
- Remove it from heat, add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice and chapatti.
