
Ingredients:
• Gingili oil – 5 tbsp
• Mustard – 1 tsp
• Channa dal – 1 tbsp
• Dried manathakkali – 1 tbsp
• Dried red chillies – 2 to 3
• Asafoetida powder – as desired
• Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
• Curry leaves – 5 to 6 leaves
• Sambar powder- 1 tbsp
• Tamarind – medium Lemon size.
• Appalam – 4
• Salt as desired.
Method:
- Heat gingili oil in a pan.
- Soak tamarind in water extract the pulp.
- Splutter mustard, add dal, dried manathakkali, dried red chillies, asafoetida powder and turmeric powder, curry leaves and sambar powder and saute the mixture.
- Break each appalam into halves and add them to the above. Add tamarind water to the above, immediately.
- Let it boil for 5 – 10 mins
- Add 240 ml of water and salt boil for ten more mins till it becomes thick.
