Ingredients:
• 1 pound – white bread
• 6 – potatoes, large size
• 6 – white onions, medium size
• 1 cup – Ghee or cooking oil
• 1/2 tsp – black Mustard Seeds
• 6 – green chillies, chopped finely
• 3 – red chillies, dried, broken
• 1 bunch – Cilantro leaves
• 2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 sprigs – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – Lemon juice
• salt to taste
Method:
- Cut bread into small pieces. Keep aside.
- Wash and boil potatoes in cold water. Remove the skins and mash or cut into small pieces.
- Chop onions, green chillies, cilantro leaves and curry leaves.
- Heat oil or ghee in a deep frying pan.
- Add mustard seeds, red chillies, green chillies, curry leaves, chopped onions, salt and turmeric powder.
- Stir briskly for about 2 or 3 minutes.
- Then add mashed potatoes and bread pieces.
- Mix well and remove from fire.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and pour more hot ghee.
- Serve hot with tamarind sauce or red chilli sauce or tomato ketchup.
