Ingredients:

• 1 pound – white bread
• 6 – potatoes, large size
• 6 – white onions, medium size
• 1 cup – Ghee or cooking oil
• 1/2 tsp – black Mustard Seeds
• 6 – green chillies, chopped finely
• 3 – red chillies, dried, broken
• 1 bunch – Cilantro leaves
• 2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 sprigs – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – Lemon juice
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Cut bread into small pieces. Keep aside.
  2. Wash and boil potatoes in cold water. Remove the skins and mash or cut into small pieces.
  3. Chop onions, green chillies, cilantro leaves and curry leaves.
  4. Heat oil or ghee in a deep frying pan.
  5. Add mustard seeds, red chillies, green chillies, curry leaves, chopped onions, salt and turmeric powder.
  6. Stir briskly for about 2 or 3 minutes.
  7. Then add mashed potatoes and bread pieces.
  8. Mix well and remove from fire.
  9. Garnish with chopped cilantro and pour more hot ghee.
  10. Serve hot with tamarind sauce or red chilli sauce or tomato ketchup.
