
Ingredients:
• 1 – small Broccoli (cleaned and chopped)
• 1 cup – Rice (soaked for 10 minutes and drained well)
• 1 – Onion (medium size, chopped into thin slices)
• 1 – Bay Leaf
• 1 tsp – Ghee or Butter
• 2-3 – tsp – oil
• 5-6 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – Ginger paste
• 1 tsp – Garlic paste
• salt to taste
• Powder the following: 2-3 – Cloves
• 1″ Cinnamon stick
• 1 pod – Cardamom
Method:
- Heat oil in a vessel large enough to cook the rice.
- Drop the bay leaf in it.
- Add the sliced onions, ginger paste and garlic paste.
- Fry until the onions are soft and the raw smell of ginger-garlic paste is gone.
- Add the chopped broccoli, salt, green chillies and powdered masala of cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
- Fry for about 5 minutes.
- Add ghee or butter.
- Add the rice and fry until it starts to turn brown.
- Add 2.5 cups of water to the rice and cover.
- Keep stirring in between, adding more water if the rice needs to cook for some more time.
- Serve the rice with onion, tomato and cucumber raita.
