Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Chana dal, washed and soaked for 1 hour
• 1/2 cup – grated Coconut
• 1 tbsp – Lemon juice
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 2 – green chillies, slit
• 4-5 – Curry leaves
• 1 tsp – mustard
• 1/2 tsp – Hing powder
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Cook chana dal in 1.5 cups of water with salt, or pressure cook till tender. Drain the water and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add curry leaves and the green chillies.
  3. Add hing powder and turmeric.
  4. Add the chana dal and the coconut.
  5. Cook for 3 minutes and remove from fire.
  6. Add the lemon juice.
  7. Serve hot with chapatis or simply have it as a snack.
