Ingredients:
• 2 cups – Chana dal
• 2 small Onions (chopped finely)
• 1-inch piece ginger, chopped finely
• A pinch of Asafoetida
• Oil for frying
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 2 green chillies, cut into very fine pieces
• 1.5 tsp – Mango powder
• 1/2 cup – Coriander leaves (chopped finely)
Method:
- Soak the dal overnight, drain, and grind it coarsely.
- Heat 2 tbsps of oil in a vessel and season with a pinch of asafoetida and cumin seeds.
- Pour the seasoning over the ground dal.
- Cook on a low fire till it is soft. Add the rest of the ingredients.
- Cool and form into vadas and deep fry.
- Serve with coconut chutney.
