Ingredients:

• 3 tbsp – cocoa
• 1/4 cup – hot water
• 4 tbsp – Butter
• 1.5 cup – Maida
• 1.5 tsp – baking powder
• a pinch of salt
• 1/2 cup – powdered Sugar
• 1/2 cup – Milk
• 1 cup – chopped Dates
• 1/2 cup – chopped Walnuts
• 1 – Egg

Method:

  1. Stir the cocoa in hot water and mix until smooth. Add butter and mix until the butter melts.
  2. Sift the maida with baking powder and salt.
  3. Add the cocoa mixture, beaten egg and milk. Beat with a wooden spoon until smooth.
  4. Mix in the dates. Pour in a greased loaf tin.
  5. Sprinkle walnuts on top and bake in an oven at 180 degrees C or until done (about 45-50 minutes).
