Dabeli is very popular Gujarati snack food. Dabeli is very famous street food across the India and can make in just few times. Generally this spicy snack is made with boiled potatoes mixture and dabeli masala then putting these mixture between pav or bun and served with chutneys. Let’s see how to make dabeli.

Dabeli Recipe by Rasoi Menu

Ingredients

– 10 pav/buns
– 1 cup nylon sev
– ? cup pomegranate seeds
– ? cup finely chopped onion
– 3 tablespoon garlic chutney
– 4 tablespoon green chutney

To Make Dabeli Masala

– 2 tablespoon coriander seeds
– 2 tablespoon cumin seeds
– 3 dried red chilies
– 2 cinnamon sticks
– 4-5 cloves
– 6-8 black peppercorns
– ? teaspoon fennel seeds
– 2 star anise
– 1 bay leave
– 2 cardamom
– ? teaspoon ground mace
– ? teaspoon turmeric

To Make Spicy Peanuts

– ? cup peanuts
– 2 teaspoon oil
– ? teaspoon red chili powder
– ? teaspoon turmeric powder
– Salt to taste

To Make Filling

– 3 cups boiled potatoes
– 2 medium chopped tomatoes
– 2 teaspoon oil
– 2 tablespoon butter
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– A pinch of asafoetida
– ? teaspoon lemon juice
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– ? cup finely chopped onion

How To Make?

To Make Dabeli Masala

1. Take a pan and dry roast all dabeli masala Ingredients until it turns light brown.
2. Now, transfer those dry roasted Ingredients into a bowl and let them cool down.
3. After that in the mixture grinder grind these Ingredients and make a fine powder.

To Make Spicy Peanuts

1. First, add the peanuts in a pan and dry roast them on LOW flame until it turns light brown, then transfer it in a plate and let it cool down.
2. Now rub the peanuts to remove their skin and break them into halves.
3. Heat oil in a pan and add peanuts, turmeric powder, and red chili powder, salt then mix them well and put off the flame to let them cool.

To Make Filling

1. First, of all peel the boiled potatoes and mash them.
2. Now, heat the oil and butter in pan and add cumin seeds.
3. When cumin seeds are crackled add asafoetida, turmeric powder, chopped onion, tomatoes and cook them until soft.
4. After that add salt, sugar, lemon juice, mashed potatoes, dabeli masala and mix them well and cook it again for 4-5 minutes.
5. Now, transfer this mixture in a plate, spread it evenly and let it cool down.

To Make Dabeli

1. In a pan heat butter and roast pav or bun from both sides.
2. Now cut the bun into halves from the middle and spread garlic chutney on one side and green chutney on another side.
3. Now place the mixture, chopped onion, nylon sev, spicy peanuts and pomegranate seeds into the pav and press it.
4. Serve this spicy dabeli with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
