Ingredients:

• 1 cup – green whole moong dal
• 1 – Onion big
• 1 – Tomato big
• Ginger and Garlic – to taste
• Coriander leaves – a few sprigs
• Butter
• 1 cup – Milk
• Dry ingredients:
• 1 pinch – Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
• Chilli powder

Method:

  1. Soak the dal in hot water for an hour.
  2. Chop onion, tomato, ginger and garlic finely.
  3. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, onion, tomato, all the dry ingredients and a blob of butter.
  4. Cook very well till very soft, for about 6 whistles.
  5. Transfer the cooked dal to a pan, add the milk and cook till it mixes well.
  6. Check for taste and add salt or chilli powder if required.
  7. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Remove from stove and add another blob of butter.
  9. Once it melts, mix well and serve with chapattis, naan or rice.
