Ingredients:

• 1 cup tur dhal
• 2 cups of water
• 1 Onion chopped
• 2 tsp chilli powder
• 1 large Tomato chopped
• 1 tsp cumin powder
• 1 tsp pepper powder
• 1 tbsp Garlic paste
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp coriander powder
• 1/2 cup Tamarind juice extracted from a small ball of Tamarind or
• 2 tsp Tamarind paste
• Salt

Method:

  1. Cook the tur dhal with 2 cups of water till the dhal is cooked.
  2. Add the chilli powder, tomato, cumin powder, pepper powder, garlic paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, tamarind juice, salt and some more water to the cooked dhal and bring to boil.
  3. Cook on low heat for a few more minutes.
  4. Season with mustard seeds, curry leaves and crushed garlic.
