Ingredients:

• 1/2 kg – fish (pomfret or king fish)
• 1 – onion, chopped finely
• 1 cup – Curd
• 1/2 inch – Cinnamon
• 3 – Cardamoms
• 5 – green chillies, chopped
• 4 – Garlic flakes, minced
• 1/4 inch – ginger, minced
• 1 cup – Coriander leaves (make a paste)
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 3 tbsp – oil
• Salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Wash fish and cut into big pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pan (preferably wide bottomed).
  3. Add cumin seeds. When they splutter, add onions. Fry till golden brown.
  4. Remove the pan from the fire. Arrange fish pieces in the pan (without overlapping).
  5. In a bowl, beat the curd. Add all the remaining ingredients to the curd. Mix it well.
  6. Pour the curd over the fish pieces (covering all of them). Cover and keep aside for 45 minutes.
  7. Put the pan on flame again. Add 1/2 cup of water.
  8. Cook till the fish is tender. Serve hot.
