Ingredients:
• 1 cup – chholar daal
• 1- large Onion sliced finely
• 1 – large Potato cut into cubes
• 3 – dry Red Chillies
• 1 tbsp – white cumin powder
• 1/2 tbsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tbsp – Curry leaves
• 1/2 tbsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tbsp – salt 1/2 tbsp – Sugar
• 1 tbsp – oil
• 3 – Cloves
• 3 – Cardamom pods
• 1/2 tbsp – Cinnamon powder
• Ingredients for Ghee Bhat:
• 2 cups – basmati Rice
• 1 tbsp – black Mustard Seeds
• A handful of dry curry leaves.
• A handful of chives
• Salt to taste
• 3 tbsps – Ghee
Method:
- For the ghee rice, splutter mustard in oil.
- Add in the remaining ingredients and saute for some time.
- Then add enough water and cook till done.
- Meanwhile, heat oil in pressure cooker.
- Add red chillies, onion and fry.
- Add cubed potato.
- Mix cumin, coriander, curry leaves, and turmeric powder in 1/2 cup water.
- Add salt and sugar. Stir.
- Add daal and pressure cook.
- Meanwhile, dry roast cloves, cardamom and cinnamon powder.
- Add to the cooked daal.
- Let the daal thicken on medium flame.
- Serve hot with rice.
