
Ingredients:
• 1/4 cup – moong dal
• 1 small – Carrot
• 1 – Tomato
• 1 pinch – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tsp – pepper powder
• salt to taste
• 1/2 tsp – Lemon juice
• To temper:
• 1 – Clove
• 1/4 inch piece – Cinnamon
• 3 Cloves – Garlic
• 1/2 – Onion
Method:
- Soak moong dal for 15 mins, drain water and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cinnamon, cloves and fry it for a min.
- Then add garlic and onions allow it to saute until onions turn golden brown.
- Then add carrot, tomatoes, saute until tomatoes turn slightly mushy.
- Now add soaked moong dal, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and salt.
- Add 3 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 – 4 whistles.
- When pressure releases, open the cooker and let it cool.
- Discard cinnamon and cloves alone, and grind the remaining ingredients in a mixie until smooth.
- Add pepper powder and mix well.
- Add water if the soup is thick, adjust according to your taste.
- Garnish with lemon juice and serve hot with bread/soup stick.
