Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup – moong dal
• 1 small – Carrot
• 1 – Tomato
• 1 pinch – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tsp – pepper powder
• salt to taste
• 1/2 tsp – Lemon juice
• To temper:
• 1 – Clove
• 1/4 inch piece – Cinnamon
• 3 Cloves – Garlic
• 1/2 – Onion

Method:

  1. Soak moong dal for 15 mins, drain water and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cinnamon, cloves and fry it for a min.
  3. Then add garlic and onions allow it to saute until onions turn golden brown.
  4. Then add carrot, tomatoes, saute until tomatoes turn slightly mushy.
  5. Now add soaked moong dal, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and salt.
  6. Add 3 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 – 4 whistles.
  7. When pressure releases, open the cooker and let it cool.
  8. Discard cinnamon and cloves alone, and grind the remaining ingredients in a mixie until smooth.
  9. Add pepper powder and mix well.
  10. Add water if the soup is thick, adjust according to your taste.
  11. Garnish with lemon juice and serve hot with bread/soup stick.
