Ingredients:
• 1/2 kg – Chicken
• 1.5 cup – Gongura leaves
• 4- Green chillies
• 3/4 cup – chopped Onions
• 2 tsp – Garam Masala
• 1.5 tbsp – poppy seed paste
• Oil as needed
• 1/2 tbsp – ginger-garlic paste
• 1/8 tsp Sugar
• Dry spices
• 1 – Bay Leaf
• 1- sprig of Curry leaves
• 2 – green Cardamoms
• 4 – Cloves
• Small – Cinnamon stick
• A pinch – cumin
• To Marinate:
• 2 tsp – Lemon juice
• 3/4 tbsp – ginger-garlic paste
• 1/8 tsp – Turmeric
• 1/8 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• Salt as needed.
Method:
- Grind poppy seeds into a fine paste.
- Marinate the chicken with lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt and keep aside.
- Heat a pan with 1 tsp oil, add the gongura leaves and fry till they wilt , add sugar to retain the green colour and set aside to cool
- Heat a pan with oil, add the dry spices and saute.
- Add onions and green chillies, sprinkle some salt and fry till the onions turn brown.
- Take off the green chillies and grind in the blender along with gongura leaves.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a min
- Add chicken and fry on high for 2 to 3 mins, till the chicken turns white
- Add enough water to cover the chicken, add garam masala
- Cover and cook till the chicken is tender.
- Add the poppy seeds paste, and gongura paste and mix well.
- Cook on a low flame for 3 to 4 mins
- Serve hot
