
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – yellow moong dal
• 1 tbsp – oil
• 1 tsp – ginger-green chilli paste
• 1/2 tsp – Sugar
• A pinch – baking soda
• Salt
• For kadhi:
• 2 cups – Curd
• 3 tbsp – gram flour
• 1 tsp – ginger-chilli paste
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• A few – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – Sugar
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 2 – dry Red Chillies
• A few – Coriander leaves (chopped)
• Ghee for tempering
Method:
- Soak the yellow moong dal in water for 2 hours.
- Drain the water completely and grind it into a smooth paste, transfer the paste to a bowl and add the ginger-chilli paste, sugar, baking soda, salt, oil and mix well.
- Combine the curd, gram flour and add 2 cups of water, whisk well to avoid lumps.
- Add the ginger-chilli paste, turmeric powder, sugar and salt, mix well and cook on medium flame.
- Once the mixture starts boiling, make small balls from the moong dal aka dapka batter and drop them gently into the boiling kadhi.
- Cook on sim until the dapkas start floating on the top.
- Heat ghee for tempering, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves and fry until they turn brown.
- Add this to the dapka kadhi. Add chopped coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
