Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup – Urad Dal
• 1 fist full – Channa dal
• 15- 20 – Red Chillies
• 1/4 tsp – asafetida
• 1 tsp – sesame seeds
• 1-2 tsp – coconut, grated
• salt as needed

Method:

  1. Roast all the ingredients, except salt, separately until golden brown and allow to cool.
  2. Grind the red chillies and salt first, then add the other ingredients and grind to a fine or slightly coarse powder.
  3. Serve the podi with idli or sprinkle over a thin dosa spread over with ghee.
