Ingredients:

• 3/4 cup – masoor dal
• 4 cups – Chicken stock or water
• 1 – medium sized Carrot
• 1 – small Onion
• 2 – Cloves of Garlic
• 1 – Bay Leaf
• 2 – Cloves
• 8-10 – peppercorns
• 1 – small stalk Celery (optional)
• 1/2 cup – low fat Milk
• For garnishing:
• 1 tbsp – Mint leaves (chopped)

Method:

  1. Wash the dal and put in a pressure cooker with stock or water and the rest of the ingredients.
  2. Pressure-cook for 4 minutes.
  3. Remove bay leaf.
  4. Liquidise the soup in a blender.
  5. Add milk.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with a little chopped mint leaves.
