Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Chana dal
• 1/2 cup – moong dal
• 1/2 cup – masoor dal
• 1/4 cup – Urad Dal
• 1/4 cup – tur dal
• 2 tbsp – coriander powder
• 2 tbsp – chilli powder
• half inch – Ginger
• 5 to 6 – Cloves of Garlic
• 1/2 cup – fresh spinach, chopped
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Mix and wash all the dals together. Add water (keep the dal: water ratio at 1:5)
  2. Add a little salt and turmeric and let it cook. It usually takes about 30-35 mins.
  3. Add dhania powder and chilli powder and churn it very well.
  4. Add the chopped ginger and garlic, along with the spinach, and cook the dal for some time.
  5. Heat some ghee in a small kadai and add jeera and hing.
  6. Then add the tadka to the dal.
  7. Sprinkle freshly cut coriander leaves. Serve hot with rotis or rice.
