Ingredients:
• Fresh Cabbage -1/2 Kg
• Potato – 1 (Big)
• Tuar Dhal – 100 g
• Grated Coconut – 100 g
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• Dry Red Chillies – 2
• Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
• Mustard – 1/2 tsp
• Cooking Oil – 1 tsp (for seasoning)
• Curry leaves – 8 to 10 (for garnishing)
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Chop the cabbage finely and dice the potato into small cubes and keep aside.
- Wash tuar dal and pressure cook it.
- Add turmeric powder and salt to the cut vegetables and cook separately till fully cooked.
- Make a paste of grated coconut along with cumin seeds and dry red chillies.
- Add pressure cooked tuar dhal and the paste to the cooked vegetables.
- Half a glass of water could be added if the stew is too thick.
- Stir all the contents and allow this mixture to simmer for 5 mins. Do not let it boil.
- Garnish molakootal with curry leaves and season it with mustard and cooking oil.
- Seasoning:
- Take a spoon of cooking oil in a small pan and heat it on low flame.
- | Allow the mustard seeds to splutter in hot oil and pour this into the molakootal.
