Ingredients:

• 1 cup – rolled oats
• 1/4 cup – Yellow moong dal
• 1.25 cup – Jaggery
• 1/4 tsp – Cardamom powder
• 3 tbsp – Ghee
• A few cashews
• A few Raisins

Method:

  1. Dry roast the rolled oats and keep aside.
  2. Wash the moong dal and pressure cook it with a cup of water up to 3 whistles and put off the stove.
  3. Meanwhile take the jaggery in a cup of water and bring it to a boil.
  4. Strain it and keep aside.
  5. Once the steam gets released in the pressure cooker, add the jaggery syrup and dry roasted oats to the dal.
  6. Mash it and cook for a few minutes until the oats gets cooked.
  7. Finally add the cardamom powder and put off the stove.
  8. Heat the ghee and fry the cashews and raisins until they turn golden brown.
  9. Add immediately to the sweet pongal and give a stir.
