Ingredients:

• 1 tbsp – urad dal.
• 3 tbsps – oil.
• 30 to 35 – red chillies.
• Salt to taste.
• Asafoetida.
• 1 bundle of coriander leaves.
• Lime-sized ball of tamarind.

Method:

  1. Roast the urad dal till red in colour. Keep aside to cool.
  2. In the same kadai, heat 1 tbsp oil and saute the red chillies.
  3. When done, add the chillies to the urad dal.
  4. Add salt and asafoetida to the urad dal-chillies mixture.
  5. Mix well and grind.
  6. Chop the coriander and dry well for about 20 mins.
  7. Add this to the powdered dal-chillies mixture.
  8. Take lime-sized ball of tamarind add to the coriander leaves. Mix well.
  9. Dry grind everything and keep aside.
  10. The heat 2 tbsps oil and mix with the ground powder.
  11. Let it cool and seep in an airtight container.
