Ingredients:

• 1/2 kg – cocktail prawns.
• 1 cup – chopped onions.
• 1 cup – peeled and chopped tomatoes.
• 2 tbsp – butter.
• 1 to 2 – bay leaves.
• 1 tsp – cumin seeds.
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder.
• 1/4 tsp – black pepper powder.
• 1/4 tsp – garam masala.
• 1/2 tsp – Tabasco sauce.
• 1/2 tsp – Ginger paste.
• 1/4 tsp – pepper powder.
• 1/4 tsp – Dhania powder.
• 1/4 tsp – chilli powder.
• 1/4 tsp – vinegar.
• 2 – green chillies.
• Fresh coriander for garnishing.
• Salt to taste.
• 1 – lemon.
• 1/4 tsp – Garlic paste.

Method:

  1. Peel and clean the prawns.
  2. Add salt, Tabasco sauce, pepper powder, half the lemon juice, ginger paste and vinegar. Keep aside for 20-30 mins.
  3. In a pan, heat butter and fry the cumin seeds, bay leaves and slit chillies.
  4. Add onions. Fry till light pink.
  5. Add garlic paste and the marinated prawns.
  6. Cook for a while and add tomatoes. Cook till it softens.
  7. Then add turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala and dhania powder.
  8. Cover and cook till water from prawns evaporates.
  9. Add the remaining lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
  10. Serve with rice or parathas.
