Ingredients:

• 1 small bunch – Mint leaves, washed, drained
• 1 medium bunch – coriander leaves, washed, drained
• 6 to 7 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – peanuts, crushed coarsely
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal grains
• 1/2 tbsp – roasted peeled Chickpeas
• 2 to 3 pinches – Cumin seeds
• 2 to 3 pinches – Asafoetida
• 1 tsp – Lemon juice
• 1 tsp – Sugar or Jaggery
• 1 tsp – oil
• 1/3 tsp – salt

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a wide frying pan. Add cumin, urad, asafoetida, allow to splutter.
  2. Add leaves and stir-fry till leaves wilt.
  3. Add all other ingredients, transfer to electric mixer.
  4. Grind to a paste, using minimal or no water.
  5. Store in clean sterile jar with airtight lid.
  6. Apply as and when required on toast, bread, roti, etc.
